Welcome to George Design.

Currently working for QVC UK’s e-Commerce platform and various freelance projects, I have an ambition to one day run my own fully integrated design agency. For now though, its just little old me striving to produce agency quality work.

I work across the entire creative process, from client liason & generating creative concepts through to final execution, whether that’s for web or print.

Typical projects for me are: branding, corporate literature, and website design and build.

Being passionate about the projects I work on,  is just the first step. It’s also about service, ability to work within tight deadlines and an original idea driven approach that I try to apply to creative briefs.

Alquimia Silver eCommerce Website

A new website for the Spanish based jewellery studio.

The design is heavily influenced by the clients handmade silver jewellery pieces’ style. The dark background colours show off the products, and the refracted light and sparkle imagery in the background adds to the mysterious nature of the brand and product. Whilst conjuring images of heady nights out, and the way that light bounces off the beautiful jewellery.

Roles:

• Identity and Logo tweaking – The Client was pretty happy with their logo, but were gently encouraged to tweak it a little bit in order to look better on the web.
• Website design – Front end design.
• CMS and WordPress – Implementation of WordPress, eCommerce plugin, and heavy customisation of the theme to achieve the required look.
• eCommerce – Products, Categories and shipping etc. I’m also working on having the site available in Spanish too.

Jonathan Dunn Architects ACA Brochure

Jonathan Dunn Architects have commisioned a brochure to support a pitch for new work with various clients and organisations.

Roles:

• Speed – Brochure to be designed and printed in 2 days
• Identity – JD Architects had no identity or logos for the ACA group, other than keywords like: clean & professional
• Photo Retouch – Many of the images used were bad quality but ‘had to go in’! So photo re touching was done

Penguin Books Exhibition Posters

A mockup of some exhibition posters. The brief was to create a poster campaign for an exhibition celebrating Penguin book covers to be shown at the Design Museum.

Roles:

• Graphic design – Trying to encapsulate the penguin book cover tradition whilst incorporating the title of the exhibition.
• Photo manipulation – A mock up of how they would look..

Speciality Produce Limited Branding & Identity Project.

SPL have commissioned a new branding and identity for the business. They would like the new identity to appear on everything from headed paper through to HGV’s like the one above!

Roles:

• Identity & Logo Design – Working closely with the management, GD developed a new logo route that was symbolic of an agricultural company, yet not cliched or corny. The logo is reminiscent of a leaf without being to obvious, and the colour scheme and strong graphical shapes bring a fresh timeless approach with many uses across the brand.
• Stationery and Collateral – Artworking to ensure the identity remained strong across a platform of different collateral including, stationery, clothing, signage and the website.
• Website Design – SPL wanted clean and easy to use interface to announce the business to the public, whilst also having back-end features like a members log in area and CMS.
• Website development – GD is still developing the site with multi user back end functionality combined with a clean, simple and contemporary user interface.

Value Shaftesbury – Goes live to over 10,000 homes in the Shaftesbury area on monday!

Value Shaftesbury are an organisation set up in the aforementioned town,  aiming to create an online website & portal collecting local people’s views regarding the Coalition’s spending cuts review.

Roles:

• Identity Design – A Logo and look and feel was required for the project.
• Marketing material – The project required mail outs and press release for publicity.
• Web Design – GD had to research and source the best way to collect peoples views online, the answer: A wordpress blog website totally updatble by Value Shaftesbury themselves, with categories and comment forms.
• Web Development – GD installed the hosting and setup the wordpress system, and then heavily customised an existing magazine style template in order provide the perfect solution for value Shaftesbury.
